Ethical Issues in Health Care

Ethical Issues in Health Care (MAU CPPD 04)
Duration: 3 months
Fees: £1500

The major advances that modern medicine has made in recent decades and the growing popularity of complementary and alternative medicine have heightened interest in the ethical aspects of health care provision. Medical technology has made it possible for life to be created in a test-tube, and, at the other end of the spectrum, the process of dying can be indefinitely prolonged. As life spans increase in most Western societies, the quality of life versus the quantity has become a matter of concern for policy makers, health professionals as well as for the lay public. Course participants will have the opportunity to critically examine recent real life cases to arrive at an understanding of the key ethical issues in health care.

The course commences in October 2020

One 3 hour lecture a week and supported distance learning.
